This is a great kids website if you haven't checked it out yet.
I took the opportunity to show Emmitt how to create thumb nail sketches to help him plan his drawings. He looks unhappy because I made him uncrumple his drawing after he got frustrated because he didn't like it. I told him it's okay to redraw something until you like it (so he did).
Since Easton has a diy.org account, I can post his picture for him and he will have completed this activity. If you complete enough activities you earn a badge. This activity goes towards the Illustrator badge.
This was an easy, fast clean up. I keep a box of gel pens and a Spirograph set along with a pad of paper in the living room just for this kind of activity.
And just to be real, let me say: Ella colored her fingers purple, Emmitt got marker on his face (which I didn't bother to wash off despite going out in public), and my walls are full of "art" applied over the years by my little artists (although nobody added to it on this particular day). I consider all this normal and was completely expected.
Here's the website:
I buy the majority of my supplies from Dollar Tree and Ebay, but my gel pen set I got on Amazon in their "deals" section (marked down from their "regular" price.)
Here are the Amazon gel pens: I thought this was an appropriate size set for three kids to share
(Not an affiliate link)
And I picked up a six piece gel pen set from the Dollar Tree (they're sented!)
The pad of drawing paper I pick up periodically from The Dollar tree as needed. (In the pictures they are using paper from the spirograph set, not the pad)
And the spirograph (not used here but I mentioned it) I recently picked up from Family Dollar for $5, and another fancier variation I picked up last weekend from Hobby Lobby (use the 40% off coupon!)
Amazing stuff!!! Thanks for sharing.
